With Tim McEwen, Claudia Chinyere Akole, Ben Mitchell, Fionn McCabe and Jakub Mazerant.
From using cartoons in school textbooks to being able to study for a PhD in graphic novel expression, comics have come a long way. This panel of authors and teachers discusses how sequential art can help educate future generations.
- "Comic Team, Assemble! Collaboration in Comics" - panel session
With: Karen Beilharz, Louie Joyce, Chris Neill and Jakub Mazerant.
Have you ever wondered what a collaboration between an artist and writer looks like? What happens behind the scenes? What is the process of editing a comic anthology, and what are the challenges of creating a large project, involving artists from all over the world?
- "Comics and Memoirs" by Sandra Broman (Silver Ledger Award 2019) - workshop
In this workshop Sandra Broman explains why comics can be an excellent medium for memoirs. We look at the ways for drawing out the essence of larger narratives, exploring different styles, page layouts common to the graphic novels, as well as interview hints for drawing a story from your subject. We then create a comic short based on life experiences.
- WACOM hands-on experience
